The LASER World of PHOTONICS trade fairs and their congresses are the most important marketplaces and think tanks for the worldwide laser and photonics industry and its users. They also combine research and applications, and promote the use and further development of optical technologies.

Messe München International has staged LASER World of PHOTONICS every two years since 1973.
The World of Photonics Congress takes place in parallel, the largest Photonics Congress in Europe with the active involvement of the world's leading organisations. The sister trade fair LASER World of PHOTONICS CHINA is the leading regional trade fair for optical technologies in China. It takes place in Shanghai every March.

In 2012, the World of Photonics Network has been expanded with the addition of a new event, i.e. LASER World of PHOTONICS INDIA in Mumbai. The new trade fair will be held on an annual basis at the Bombay Exhibition Centre (BEC).
