Once again, the World of Photonics Congress will feature Application Panels — an application-oriented series of lectures that bridge the gap between theory and practice.

Application-oriented presentations allow industry representatives to report on the challenges and solution approaches that pertain to the latest hot topics in optical technologies and to enter into a dialog with users.

Holding the Application Panels at the forums in the exhibition halls at LASER World of PHOTONICS 2013 allows visitors to include the application-oriented lectures in their visit and expand their knowledge.

The Applications Panels at the 2013 fair will feature a number of new sectors for photonics applications. A series of 16 Application Panel lectures will be held on the four days of LASER World of PHOTONICS at the trade-fair center in Munich from May 13 – 16, 2013. Broken down into three main categories – i.e. Biophotonics and Medical Engineering, Lasers and Laser Systems for Production Engineering and Optical Technologies – they will give attendees a comprehensive look at the latest trends and developments.
 
New topics include:

• Laser applications and optical diagnostics in ophthalmology
• Unmet Needs in Photonics and Medicine
• Laser–Additive Manufacturing
• Organic and Printed Electronics, Partner: OE-A
• Optronical Systems in Security Applications
• High-power diode lasers and VCSELs: most efficient and flexible beam sources

In 2011, some 1,500 participants attended the application-oriented series of lectures on the industry's latest hot topics, challenges and solution approaches. 95% of them gave the application panels a rating of good to excellent. In total the application panels recorded 70 lectures with over 2,000 visits.
