World of Photonics Congress
Latest Research on Laser Processing and Laser Systems at Lasers in Manufacturing (LiM) 2009

Laser applications are being used more and more often in industry, backed up by the continually strong growth of the laser manufacturing market. The World of Photonics Congress 2009 from 14 to 19 June 2009 will present LiM 2009 and the most advanced technologies in macro and micro processing.

Innovative applications and new markets for laser technology are opening as lasers become more and more efficient, flexible and diverse, and as beam quality improves. The development of the laser industry and laser-based applications is closely connected to research being carried out in this field. The two main tracks of LiM 2009 are therefore high power laser machining at Macro Processing Conference and the generation of precise structures at Micro Processing Conference.

From simulations to laser metrology, from process and system control to hybrid processes, from cutting and welding to micromachining, industry-oriented laser research is being carried out in many fields. Besides this, there will be Joint Sessions of LiM and CLEO, another conference held under the roof of the World of Photonics Congress. They will cover Fiber Lasers and Amplifiers as well as on Fundamentals and Modeling of Material Processing. A Special Session on Laser Nanomanufacturing will be organized based upon a new German basic research program.

LiM 2009 which is organized by the German Laser Research Society WLT will be the platform where international speakers in this field will present and exchange their latest results and ideas and where new projects are born. Since WLT represents all major German institutes and scientists in laser technology and there are significant cooperating societies like LIA, JLPS, AILU, and SwissLaserNet, and ELI, LiM is backed by an enormous portfolio of international laser research activities.

The LIM 2009 is an ideal platform for gathering information on the latest developments and for exchanging ideas between both industry and research. This conference is meant to be an interface between the industrial market and scientists, and ideally LIM should make a major contribution to shortening the time between first lab results and the introduction of new products to the market. More information on how to contribute on LiM and on how to submit an abstract can be found atwww.lzh.de/lim2009-WLT.
