TRUMPF unveils an uprated UV marking laser in the TruMark Series 6000.
The new TruMark 6350 comes with an innovative resonator concept, which
increases the power by 150 percent compared with the previous TruMark
6330 model. The diode-pumped solid-state laser boasts almost perfect
beam quality (M2 <1.2). The laser spot can therefore be focused very
precisely on the material surface, delivering outstanding precision for
marking and texturing tasks. The device is therefore ideally suited to
classic laser-marking applications and also micromachining. Just like
the other members of the TruMark Series 6000, the TruMark 6350 boasts
extraordinarily high pulse peak power and high pulse-to-pulse
stability.
Due to the increased mean power, the TruMark 6350 also delivers
extremely high processing speed, making it ideally suited to line
integration in high-speed assembly-line production plant. Experience
garnered from the TruMark 6330 model, which is in use in hundreds of
production systems around the world, has been integrated into the
development of the TruMark 6350.
The TruMark 6350 is the ideal solution for high-speed plastics
processing applications. The energy from the shortwave UV light with a
wavelength of 355nm induces a photochemical reaction without heating
the material or causing any thermal damage. This process allows
flame-retardant plastics in particular to be efficiently marked –
the sort of materials used, for instance, in the electronics industry
as package material. UV lasers provide high contrast marking with
optimum surface quality and very high processing speed, particularly
with these critical materials. The shortwave ultraviolet light is
absorbed better than the infrared light emitted by most marking lasers.
Thanks to the ultrahigh pulse energy of the TruMark 6350, extremely
high process thresholds for marking or processing selected "exotic"
plastics can be achieved. The heat input is far lower than with
infrared lasers, thus opening up new applications for materials
processing of plastics, right through to cold engraving and coating
ablation as part of micromachining.
Overall, the new TruMark 6350 is a highly efficient marking laser
which, thanks to its excellent beam quality, its wavelength of 355nm
and good pulse-to-pulse stability, is ideally suited for processing
plastics.
