Workaholism
can lead to complete mental overload and inability to work. If the illness is not treated in time, it can even be fatal. You
should know and heed the first signs, so you or your co-workers always know
what your healthy amount of work is.
- Workaholism manifests itself with physical and mental symptoms, such as frequent headaches, listlessness, concentration problems or sharp mood swings.
- Workaholics deny that they work more than the average amount. They
continue to work even when they have crossed their limits and increase
the dosage. They have to work more and more to be satisfied with the
amount of work they put in. They also make excuses and try to justify
the additional work: “This has to be done today.”
- Workaholics shy away from teamwork.
They see it as a burden and an obstacle, and avoid it. They also
maintain they have to be constantly available, be it in the evening, on
vacation or at the weekend. They do not like to delegate; they
won’t give away even the most banal jobs. And of course
everything has to be perfect. And still workaholics are often unhappy
with what they do.
