Coherent has expanded its comprehensive offering of long-life visible
CW lasers by introducing single-frequency versions of Genesis MX
lasers. Intended as solid-state alternatives to ion lasers, these
new Genesis MX SLM lasers are available at several wavelengths
including, 460 nm, 480 nm, 488 nm, 514 nm, 532 nm, 561 nm, 577 nm, and
are offered at powers between 500 mW and 1 Watt. Their
single-longitudinal mode (SLM) operation delivers a linewidth of <5
MHz, which corresponds to a coherence length of hundreds of
meters. Moreover, all these new Genesis MX SLM lasers also
feature single transverse mode (TEM00) output and are available in both
standalone and OEM configurations.
All Genesis lasers are based on Coherent’s unique optically
pumped semiconductor laser (OPSL) technology, which is characterized by
power and wavelength scalability, enabling lasers at key wavelengths
across the visible spectrum. Additionally, this compact,
electrically efficient technology provides higher stability and greater
reliability than other visible laser types. This allows single
frequency OPSLs to deliver mode-hop free output over hours of
continuous operation, backed by a 1 year/5,000 hour warranty.
Genesis MX SLM lasers are intended as solid-state replacements for ion
lasers in applications where narrow linewidth and/or long coherence
length are critical requirements. These include high resolution
Raman spectroscopy and various types of interferometry and holography,
especially those involving long path lengths.
