PRODUCT INNOVATIONS
Mikrotron
4 megapixel high-speed camera with real-time data interface

As production grows ever faster in all industries today, higher product quality must simultaneously be guaranteed by the use of ever more precise image processing. Detailed high-speed recordings permit the analysis of the fastest of processes in fabrication, research, development, medicine, bionics, and sports. Whether extremely fast pick and place, the filling of ampoules, or the observation of parts in free fall (bulk goods), the inspection must take place at high speed, reliably, and with great precision. ID requirements for the extremely fast reading of 1D and 2D codes are increasingly frequent, as well as for the reading and verification of text or logos. Vision task solutions should moreover be as compact as possible, and ensure high flexibility of use. Small digital high-speed cameras with high resolution and minimal dimensions can render multi-camera solutions superfluous. They provide decisive advantages both in the application technology and also with respect to cost-effectiveness, flexibility, and investment security.

These increasing requirements for modern high-speed camera technology are all fulfilled by the new, compact digital 4 MP high-speed EoSens 4CXP camera, with its powerful CoaXPress real-time data interface. Only one cable is needed on this interface to provide both - data transfer, communications, and control link to the PC as well as to the power supply at a high rate of up to 2 Gbyte/sec (up to 40 m),. These are decisive advantages when it comes to simplicity of system integration and operation.

The EoSens 4CXP, developed by Mikrotron GmbH in Unterschleißheim near Munich not only has minimal dimensions. It also provides additional outstanding performance features and functionality. The camera records 500 frames per second at a resolution of 4 megapixels (2,336 x 1,728 pixels). In full HD resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels, it delivers 900 frames per second. That lets the camera record even the smallest details on components with great precision. Its continuous variable layout of the image field in terms of orientation and resolution (RoI) also provides a high degree of application flexibility and recording frequencies of over 100,000 frames per second.

Then there is the advantage of its high light sensitivity, at 3200 ASA monochrome and 2400 ASA in RGB using a Bayer filter. Image control using freeze frame or a full-image shutter guarantees distortion-free shots of any processes examined. Due to its large functional scope, the new EoSens 4CXP meets the requirements for the most demanding tasks in any industry. Both in industrial image processing as well as in event analysis in research and development, in sports and broadcasting applications, the EoSens 4CXP is the right analysis tool for your needs.

Supporting program for the LASER World of PHOTONICS 2013
The LASER World of PHOTONICS 2013, which will be taking place from 13 to 16 May 2013 on the Messe München site, will provide an important impetus to the international photonics industry at its 40th anniversary event. The world’s leading trade fair offers a comprehensive supporting program and numerous opportunities to exchange technical news and views. The program highlights are the World of Photonics Congress practical lectures in the Photonics forums, the presentation event “Photonic Industry Report 2013”, the new “Digital Photonics Production” special exhibition and other top-class events on everything to do with Photonics trends. Every two years, the world’s leading trade fair for the optical technologies, together with the World of Photonics Congress, brings together the global leaders of the photonics industry in Munich.
