PHOTONICS INTERVIEW
INTERVIEW: Ms. Wei Sui, CSIG
Higher Quality with Lower Costs

weisui160China Society of Image and Graphics (CSIG) and Messe Muenchen International (MMI) will again jointly organize a machine vision pavilion within LASER World of PHOTONICS CHINA, which will be held from March 20-22, 2012. Ms. Wei Sui is Director of Machine Vision committee of the CSIG.

1. Last year LASER World of PHOTONICS CHINA already organized a machine vision pavilion together with the CSIG (China Society of Image and Graphics). Is it true that the cooperation is to be extended this year?
Ms. Wei Sui: The cooperation between CSIG and MMI started in 2011. Both of us wanted to establish a high standard and international platform for the machine vision industry in Shanghai. Within only two years we’ve seen a rapid increase for Vision China in Shanghai.

We are an association representing the industry and MMI is a well-known trade fair organizer with an excellent global network. It’s an ideal combination. We hope to continue and deepen the cooperation with MMI and turn the show into the biggest one in Asia.

2. Which key players can we expect to see at this pavilion?

Ms. Wei Sui: We have around 100 machine vision exhibitors joining us this year, displaying their latest products and solutions. They include China Daheng Group, LUSTER LightVision, Microview, The Imaging Source, VS Technology, Baumer, FRAMOS, Teledyne Dalsa, JM Vistec System, Schneider, Stemmer Imaging, Daitron, etc.

3. The “China (Shanghai) Machine Vision Technology & Application Conference” will take place parallel to the trade fair. What main topics have been planned here?

Ms. Wei Sui: There are two main topics for the conference. One is the latest machine vision technology, the other is the application of machine vision technology in various industries. We already have over 500 participants registered to attend the conference and we believe we will have another success this year.

4. Where is the machine vision market heading in China? What are the trends?
Ms. Wei Sui: In 2010, sales of machine vision products in China’s electronics industry reached RMB (Renminbi) 370 million. That’s a 60.9% increase compared to 2009.

Over the next 3 years, the semiconductor market in China will have a stable increase of around 10%; the market volume for the LED industry will double from 2009 to 2014 due to government support.

The PV industry will continue to grow in China. The sales volume for Chinese PV production machines will reach RMB (Renminbi) 15 billion in 2015.

5. Which areas post a particularly strong growth?
Ms. Wei Sui: The machine vision industry will continue to grow in the years to come mainly in the following sectors:
- The Chinese SMT industry is expected to reach RMB (Renminbi) 15 billion in 2015.
- The new energy vehicle industry is growing, as is demand for production machines.
- Demand from the automation industry and motion control industry is continuing to rise.

Thank you for the interview.
